You step off the train from Sofia or a long coach ride from the seaside, it is getting dark, and there are cars from several taxi companies outside, each with different prices on the window. You do not speak Bulgarian and your hotel is somewhere in the Old Town. This page is for that moment: how to get a taxi from Plovdiv Central railway station and the bus stations, where exactly to wait, what the ride costs and how to book it in English before you even arrive.
We know this trip well. Our call centre handled more than 300,000 orders in three months this summer, and the railway station together with the South bus station is the fifth most ordered place in the whole city, with more than 16,000 rides to and from it. Centre to station is one of the five most frequent rides in Plovdiv.
Taxi from the station: the numbers
Fares follow the published tariff on our Prices page: a starting fee, the kilometres and a one-off €0.50 booking fee. No surge pricing, no charge for bags.

One railway station, three bus stations
“The station” in Plovdiv can mean four different places. Knowing which one you arrive at tells the driver where to stop.
- Central railway station (Централна гара) on Hristo Botev Blvd. Trains from Sofia, Burgas, Stara Zagora and the rest of the country arrive here.
- South bus station (Автогара „Юг“, Avtogara Yug), right across the boulevard from the railway station. The largest one, with coaches from Sofia, the seaside, most big cities and some international routes.
- Rodopi bus station (Автогара „Родопи“), behind the railway station, through the underpass. Buses from Smolyan, Asenovgrad, Pamporovo and the Rhodope Mountains.
- North bus station (Автогара „Север“), in the northern part of the city, for some lines to the north.
Your ticket shows which one you will arrive at. If it is in Cyrillic, look for “Юг”, “Родопи” or “Север”.
Where to wait for your car
The railway station and the South bus station face each other across a wide, busy boulevard. “I am outside the station” can send the driver to the wrong side. Give one of these points instead:
- Railway station: say “at the clock” (in Bulgarian „при часовника“). It is a saved pick-up point in our dispatch system and every driver knows it.
- South bus station: say “Avtogara Yug, at the entrance”. It is a saved point too.
- Rodopi bus station: say you are on the underpass side, behind the railway station.
- One App: drop the pin where you are standing. You see the car on the map, its plate and model, so you do not have to ask every driver.
Taxi companies in Plovdiv set their own prices, and each displays them on the car window. If you want a One car on our tariff, the safe way is to book it on 032 22 22 or in the One App rather than taking the first car at the door.
What a ride costs from the station
By day you pay €1.60 to start, €0.80 per km and €0.50 for the booking. At night it is €1.80, €0.90 per km and the same €0.50. Here is what that means for the places travellers ask for most, starting from the Central railway station or the South bus station.

|---|---|---|---|
| City centre / Kapana | about 3 km | about €4.50 | about €5.00 |
| Kyuchuk Parizh | about 3 km | about €4.50 | about €5.00 |
| St. George University Hospital | about 3 km | about €4.50 | about €5.00 |

Approximate, by the tariff, day/night, booking fee included. Distances are from the map. The final amount depends on the route, traffic and waiting time; the meter in the car is what counts. The airport is a fixed price per car for up to four passengers.
Staying in the Old Town or Kapana? Many streets there are narrow or pedestrian, so the driver stops as close to your door as the street allows. Give the hotel name and street when you book. For more sample rides around town, see Plovdiv taxi fares 2026: real examples.
How to book in English, before you arrive
- Call 032 22 22. From a foreign SIM dial +359 32 22 22. Our dispatchers take orders in English, around the clock. Call shortly before you arrive and say which station, which point (the clock, the entrance, the underpass) and how many of you there are.
- Use the One App. No call needed: set the pick-up point on the map and watch the car come to you.
- Book ahead if you know your arrival time. A child seat is free if you request it in advance.
If your train or coach is late
Delays happen, especially on Fridays, Sundays and around holidays. Call 032 22 22 and give the new time. If you want the car to wait at the station, waiting time is €0.16 per minute, so it is often cheaper to book once you are off the train.
Late arrivals
Many trains and coaches arrive in the evening, and across the city demand peaks between 17:00 and 20:00 and again around 22:00–23:00. At those times, book from the road so a car is ready when you step off. We keep running all night; the night tariff applies from 22:00 to 06:00.
Going on to the airport or the mountains
Some travellers use the station only to change. From here to Plovdiv Airport the fare is fixed at €20 by day and €25 at night, per car, luggage included. Our guide Plovdiv Airport to the city centre has everything about the airport. Fixed prices to ski resorts such as Pamporovo and to other cities are on the Prices page.
Luggage and paying
There is no charge for bags, extra passengers or public holidays. The fare is for the car, not per person, so four friends pay the same as one. Pay in euro cash or by card: every car carries a myPOS terminal and accepts Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with no surcharge.
