If you study medicine in Plovdiv, two addresses will run your week: the Medical University on Vasil Aprilov Blvd and the clinics of St. George University Hospital on Peshtersko Shose Blvd. Add early practicals, late exams, a flat somewhere across the river and a suitcase at the start of every semester, and a taxi you can order in English stops being a luxury. This page is for you: real fares, the right address to give, and how to book without speaking Bulgarian.
We know these trips well. Our call centre handled more than 300,000 orders in three months this summer, and St. George Hospital together with the Medical University is the sixth most ordered place in the whole city, with more than 12,000 rides to and from it. The university’s address, typed in English, is one of the most frequent Latin-script destinations in our system.

Approximate, by the tariff, day/night, booking fee included. Distances are from the map. The final amount depends on the route, traffic and waiting time; the meter in the car is what counts.
Sharing helps. The fare is for the car, not per person, so four classmates going to the same clinic split one meter.
Which address to give: university, hospital, clinic
St. George is not one building, and this is where most first-year confusion starts. The main hospital address is 66 Peshtersko Shose Blvd; our dispatchers often note it as the “surgeries” or the “polyclinic”. The Medical University of Plovdiv is at 15A Vasil Aprilov Blvd. Both sites are large and individual clinics have their own entrances.
- Say the clinic, not just the hospital. “St. George, cardiology” gets you much closer to the right door than “St. George”. Check your rotation schedule for the exact name.
- Not sure which site? Ask your group leader or the department before you leave. It saves you a walk across the complex.
- Write it down in Bulgarian. “УМБАЛ „Св. Георги“, бул. „Пещерско шосе“ 66” or “Медицински университет, бул. „Васил Априлов“ 15А”. Show it to the driver if needed.
- Going back: in the One App drop the pin exactly where you are standing, so the car comes to your entrance.
Other hospitals students and patients often ask for include St. Ivan Rilski, Kaspela University Hospital and UMHAT Plovdiv (the former regional hospital). Give the name, and the dispatcher will know it.
How to book without speaking Bulgarian
- Call 032 22 22. From a foreign SIM dial +359 32 22 22. Our dispatchers take orders in English, around the clock. Give the street and number, and the clinic.
- Use the One App. No phone call needed: set pick-up and drop-off on the map, see the car, its plate and how far away it is.
- Book ahead for an early practical or exam: you can order the evening before. A child seat is free if you request it in advance.
Early mornings and late evenings
Across the city, demand peaks between 17:00 and 20:00 and again around 22:00–23:00, with a jump at about 7:00 when people head to work and to morning appointments. If your practical starts at 8:00, order a little earlier or book the night before. After a late shift or a night out, we keep running; the night tariff applies from 22:00 to 06:00. If a car waits for you, waiting time is €0.16 per minute.
Arriving at the start of the semester
Many international students fly in with heavy luggage. From Plovdiv Airport (Krumovo, about 20 km) to any address in the city the taxi fare is fixed: €20 by day and €25 at night, per car for up to four people, luggage included. Our guide Plovdiv Airport to the city centre compares the taxi with the shuttle bus. Fixed prices to other airports and cities are on the Prices page.
Paying
Pay in euro cash or by card. Every car carries a myPOS terminal and accepts Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with no surcharge. For more sample rides around town, from Kapana to the malls and the Rowing Canal, see Plovdiv taxi fares 2026: real examples.
